April Tax Services — Filing & Quarterly Planning

ZenBusiness's tax filing and quarterly planning service through April Tax for single-member LLCs, multi-member LLCs, S-Corps, C-Corps, and partnerships. Money Pro's DIY filing and automatic tax-data sync remain limited to eligible single-member LLCs filing Schedule C.

Overview

April Tax is ZenBusiness's built-in tax filing and quarterly planning partner, accessible directly from your ZenBusiness dashboard — no separate login required. April supports all common entity types: single-member LLCs, multi-member LLCs, S-Corps, C-Corps, and partnerships.

April Tax offers two purchasable services:

  • Business Tax Filing — Annual return preparation and filing by credentialed CPAs and Enrolled Agents. Available for all entity types. One-time purchase per tax year.
  • Quarterly Tax Planning — Annual subscription (billed monthly) with four scheduled consultation sessions per year. Available for all entity types.

Purchasing both together qualifies for an automatic bundle discount — no separate bundle SKU required.

The important distinction from Money Pro: April's tax filing and quarterly planning services support all entity types, while the Money Pro DIY filing experience and automatic tax-data sync are limited to eligible single-member LLCs filing Schedule C.

Business Tax Filing

Annual tax return preparation and filing by a credentialed April Tax professional (CPA or Enrolled Agent). The specific product and forms depend on your entity type:

Entity type April Tax product Forms prepared
Single-member LLC (default / sole proprietor tax treatment) Business & Personal Tax Prep Schedule C + Form 1040 (business and personal return in one service)
Multi-member LLC / Partnership Business Tax Prep for Partnerships Form 1065 (+ K-1s for each member)
LLC or corporation taxed as S-Corp Business Tax Prep for S Corps Form 1120-S
C-Corporation Business Tax Prep for C Corps Form 1120

Money Pro sync: If you use Money Pro and you're an eligible single-member LLC filing Schedule C, your business income, expenses, and mileage can automatically import into your return.

Filing timeline: The target is five business days from the time you submit your completed questionnaire and all required documents to the time your return is filed. You can complete your return before the IRS opens for electronic filing (~January 29) — it will be held and submitted when the window opens.

Quarterly Tax Planning

An annual subscription (billed monthly) that gives you four scheduled consultation sessions per year with a credentialed April Tax professional (CPA or Enrolled Agent).

Each session (30–45 minutes, via Google Meet) covers:
- Review of your year-to-date income and expenses
- Calculation of your estimated quarterly tax liability and exact payment amounts
- Tax optimization strategies and deduction planning
- Answers to your tax questions

Between-meeting support: QTP includes the ability to submit tax questions outside of your four sessions through your April dashboard (accessible via Tax Services in your ZenBusiness account). April professionals aim to respond within 1 business day during business hours (9am–6pm ET, Mon–Fri). Best suited for quick clarifications and time-sensitive questions between consultations.

Scheduling: Sessions are available Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm ET (last appointment slot at 5:30pm ET). All sessions are via Google Meet. The system tries to match you with the same tax professional across all four consultations.

Billing and cancellation:
- Annual contract with monthly billing
- If you cancel mid-year, you remain obligated to pay through the end of your current annual contract period — the contract will not auto-renew after that
- Access continues through the end of your contract term

Note: April does not make estimated tax payments on your behalf. They calculate what you owe; you pay directly at eftps.gov or your state's tax authority website.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who prepares my taxes?

Your taxes are prepared and reviewed by credentialed CPAs and Enrolled Agents at April Tax, not by ZenBusiness employees directly.

Does April Tax cover federal and state taxes?

Yes, but what's included depends on your entity type. For eligible single-member LLCs, April covers the Schedule C business filing plus the related personal return (Form 1040). For multi-member LLCs, partnerships, S-Corps, and C-Corps, April prepares the entity return. State returns are included where applicable.

Which April Tax product is right for my entity type?

It depends on your tax classification — see the entity type table above. Single-member LLC owners (default tax treatment) get both business and personal returns in one service. S-Corp, C-Corp, and partnership owners get their entity return. If you're unsure of your tax classification, check with your accountant or review your IRS filings.

My LLC has two members — my spouse and me — and we file jointly. Which product do we need?

It depends on your state.

If you're in a community property state (Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin): A husband-and-wife LLC is treated as a single-member LLC for federal tax purposes — no special election required. Use Business & Personal Tax Prep, which covers both your Schedule C business filing and your personal Form 1040 in one service.

If you're in any other state: The default federal tax treatment for a 2-member LLC is a partnership, which requires Form 1065. Use Business Tax Prep for Partnerships. There is a "qualified joint venture" election (IRC §761(f)) that allows married co-owners to each file a Schedule C instead — if you've made this election, April's tax professional will verify and confirm the correct product during intake.

If you're unsure which applies, start the April Tax process — their tax professional will confirm your tax classification before filing begins.

Do I still need to pay estimated taxes if I have Quarterly Tax Planning?

Yes. Quarterly planning sessions help you calculate what to pay, but April does not make payments on your behalf. You pay directly to the IRS at eftps.gov and to your state's tax authority.

Is there a discount for buying both Quarterly Tax Planning and Tax Filing?

Yes — when you purchase Quarterly Tax Planning and Business Tax Filing together, ZenBusiness automatically applies a bundle discount. No separate bundle SKU is needed. Check your dashboard (Finances → Tax Services) for current bundle pricing.

What are the billing terms for Quarterly Tax Planning?

Quarterly Tax Planning is an annual contract billed monthly. If you cancel mid-year, you continue paying through the end of your annual contract term (your contract will not renew after that point). Your access and ability to schedule sessions continues through the end of the contract.

Can I use April Tax if I haven't used Money Pro?

Yes — Money Pro makes the experience significantly faster because your data syncs automatically, but it's not required. Without Money Pro, you'll be prompted to provide your financial information before the filing.

Can I get tax help between my quarterly consultations?

Yes. Quarterly Tax Planning includes the ability to submit questions through your April dashboard (via Tax Services in your ZenBusiness account) between scheduled sessions. April professionals aim to respond within 1 business day (9am–6pm ET, Mon–Fri). Best for quick clarifications and time-sensitive issues — in-depth planning happens during your quarterly sessions.

Is April Tax good for businesses with fluctuating or seasonal income?

Yes. Quarterly Tax Planning is specifically designed for businesses with irregular income — sessions help you plan and adjust your estimated payments throughout the year rather than getting a surprise bill in April.

Can S-Corps, C-Corps, and multi-member LLCs use April Tax?

Yes. April Tax services support all entity types. The main limitation is that Money Pro's DIY filing and automatic data sync remain limited to eligible single-member LLC Schedule C filers.

When are quarterly consultations available?

Monday through Friday, 9am–6pm ET (last appointment slot at 5:30pm ET), via Google Meet. Schedule through the embedded interface in your dashboard under Finances → Tax Services → Quarterly Tax Planning tab.

How long does the tax filing process take?

The target is five business days from the time you submit your completed questionnaire and all required documents. Once you approve the return, your tax professional files electronically with the IRS.

Are my tax documents kept confidential?

Yes. April Tax uses standard encryption to protect your tax data. Your documents are also accessible securely from your ZenBusiness dashboard.
