How to File a Business Amendment
To file a business amendment through ZenBusiness, log in to your dashboard, go to Compliance → Amendments, click Get an Amendment, and provide the details of what's changing. ZenBusiness prepares and files the amendment with your state. Processing takes 1–4 weeks depending on the state; the state filing fee applies.
Step-by-Step: File an Amendment Through ZenBusiness
- Log in at app.zenbusiness.com
- Click Compliance in the left navigation
- Select Amendments
- Click Get an Amendment
- Choose the type of change (name, address, membership, etc.)
- Enter the specific details of the change
- Review the information for accuracy
- Confirm and pay — you'll pay the state filing fee (and ZenBusiness service fee if not on WFC Essentials/Advanced)
- ZenBusiness prepares and submits the amendment to your state
- You'll receive email confirmation when the state accepts the filing
After Filing
- Processing time: 1–4 weeks for most states; some states offer expedited processing for an additional fee
- Confirmation: ZenBusiness notifies you when the amendment is accepted and uploads the confirmation to your dashboard documents
- Public record: Your updated information appears on the state's Secretary of State website after processing
- IRS notification: For business name changes, also file IRS Form 8822-B to notify the IRS of the name change. Your EIN does not change.
