How to Cancel a ZenBusiness Subscription
To cancel a ZenBusiness subscription, log in at zenbusiness.com → profile icon → Account Settings → Subscriptions → find the service → Cancel. Most subscriptions can be self-canceled in your dashboard. Registered Agent and ZenBusiness Banking require contacting support first. Canceling a ZenBusiness service does not dissolve your LLC — those are separate actions.

Critical for Registered Agent: Your LLC is legally required to have an active registered agent at all times while it's in existence. Never cancel your RA subscription without first appointing a replacement. If your registered agent lapses, your LLC can lose good standing, miss legal notices, and face administrative dissolution.
Step-by-Step: Cancel via Dashboard
- Log in at zenbusiness.com
- Click your profile icon (top right corner)
- Select Account Settings
- Click the Subscriptions tab
- Find the service you want to cancel
- Click Cancel and follow the confirmation prompts
Your access continues through the end of the current billing period. You won't be charged again after the cancellation is confirmed.

Canceling Each Service — What to Know First
Canceling Money Pro
Before you cancel:
- Export your transaction history, expense reports, mileage logs, and invoices — these are your financial records
- Download any documents you need for tax purposes (profit/loss reports, categorized expenses)
- Export invoices and client payment histories if you use Money Pro's invoicing feature
After canceling:
- Access ends at the end of the current billing period
- Your data is retained for 90 days after the billing period ends
- After 90 days, your data is permanently deleted

Canceling Worry-Free Compliance
Before you cancel:
- Note your next annual report due date (visible in your compliance calendar) — you'll need to file it yourself going forward
- Note any other compliance deadlines ZenBusiness was tracking for you
After canceling:
- You're immediately responsible for tracking and filing your own annual reports
- Your state will still expect your annual report on its normal schedule
- A missed annual report after canceling WFC can trigger penalties and administrative dissolution
How to cancel: Self-serve in your Subscriptions tab. If the "Price" reason is selected during cancellation, you may be offered a discount to stay — you're not required to accept it.
Canceling Registered Agent Service
Before you cancel:
- Appoint a replacement registered agent first — you cannot legally operate without one
- Options: appoint yourself (if your state allows it), appoint another RA service, or appoint a trusted individual in your state
- File the change of registered agent with your Secretary of State
Do NOT cancel your RA service before your replacement is in place. The gap in RA coverage means legal notices (lawsuits, government correspondence) may not reach you, and your LLC can be administratively dissolved for failing to maintain a registered agent.

Canceling ZenBusiness Banking
Before you cancel:
- Transfer or withdraw all funds from your banking account first
- Ensure there are no pending transactions
- Ensure account balance is $0
- Download all transaction records you need for accounting or tax purposes
- Update any recurring payments or deposits linked to this account

Canceling Domain / Website / Email
Before you cancel:
- Download or save any website content you want to keep
- Export email contacts and messages from your ZenBusiness email if applicable
- If your domain is set to auto-renew, disable that before cancellation to avoid unexpected charges
- If you want to keep your domain but cancel the website/email, contact our support team to discuss your options
After canceling:
- Your domain, website, and email services end at the billing period end
- Your domain may become available for registration by others
Canceling Formation Plan Services
Your formation plan (Starter, Pro, Premium) was primarily a one-time service (the LLC filing itself). However, some plans include ongoing services like registered agent or worry-free compliance. Contact our support team to clarify which services are included in your plan and how cancellation affects them.
Refund Policies
Refund eligibility varies by the service and when you cancel:

Important notes:
- State filing fees paid to government agencies are non-refundable regardless of when you cancel — ZenBusiness has no ability to recover fees already submitted to the state
- Expedited processing fees are non-refundable once processing has begun
- Canceling one subscription does not automatically trigger refunds on related services

What Happens to Your LLC When You Cancel ZenBusiness
Canceling ZenBusiness services does NOT dissolve your LLC. Your LLC remains legally in existence after you cancel — and it continues to have state compliance obligations regardless of what services you use.
Specifically:
- Annual reports — still due each year on the state's schedule
- Registered agent — still legally required; you must maintain a replacement
- State taxes — still due each year
- Business licenses and permits — still required by any applicable agencies

Common mistake: Canceling ZenBusiness and stopping all filings, assuming the LLC is "closed." The LLC is still legally active. The state will accumulate late fees and penalties for unfiled annual reports. Eventually the state may administratively dissolve the LLC — but even then, you may retain personal liability for any pending fees or taxes.
Closing Your ZenBusiness Account Entirely

Full account closure typically takes a few business days to process after all the steps above are complete.
Do Not Renew (DNR) — States With Automatic Renewal Laws
If you live in a state with an Automatic Renewal Law, you may be eligible to set your subscriptions to "Do Not Renew" (DNR) instead of canceling immediately. This means the subscription continues until the current term ends, then doesn't renew. DNR is available in: California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, Tennessee, and Washington D.C.
Important: DNR is NOT available for Registered Agent in any state — RA must be canceled through a standard cancellation process with replacement appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will canceling one service affect my other ZenBusiness services?
No. Each subscription is independent. Canceling Money Pro doesn't affect your Registered Agent service, and canceling Worry-Free Compliance doesn't affect your Banking account. Cancel each service individually.
Can I pause a subscription instead of canceling?
ZenBusiness doesn't offer a formal pause option for most services. If cost is the concern, contact our support team — in some cases, a discount or downgrade option may be available. For Worry-Free Compliance, you can downgrade from Advanced to Essentials rather than canceling entirely.
I canceled but I'm still being charged. What do I do?
Contact our support team immediately. Have your account email and the charge date ready. If a cancellation was processed correctly but billing continued in error, ZenBusiness will refund the incorrect charge.
What happens to my data when I cancel?
- Money Pro: Retained 90 days after billing period ends, then permanently deleted. Export before canceling.
- ZenBusiness documents (formation docs, operating agreement, etc.): Your formation documents won't disappear — they belong to your LLC. However, you may lose access to the document storage dashboard. Download important documents before canceling.
- ZenBusiness Banking: Download transaction history before closing the account.
Can I restart a canceled service?
Yes — you can re-subscribe to most services at any time. If your Worry-Free Compliance lapsed and you missed an annual report deadline, ZenBusiness may be able to file the past-due report for an additional fee. Contact our support team to discuss your situation.
My LLC is still active but I want to cancel everything. Do I need to dissolve first?
You don't need to dissolve first — you can cancel ZenBusiness services while keeping your LLC active (managing it yourself). However, if you intended to close the business entirely, do not skip the dissolution step. An undissolved LLC continues to accrue annual report obligations and state fees even if you stop using it.
