How to Switch Stripe from Manual Payouts to Automatic Payouts

To switch Stripe from manual payouts back to automatic payouts, log in to Stripe, open Payout settings, and choose an automatic schedule such as daily, weekly, or monthly. Manual payout mode means Stripe will not automatically send available funds to your bank; you must initiate payouts yourself until automatic payouts are turned back on.

How Manual Payouts Affect Money Pro Customers

Manual payouts can make it look like Stripe or Money Pro is holding your money, even when the funds are available. In manual mode, Stripe keeps available balance in Stripe until you log in and send a payout.

Money Pro invoice status is separate from Stripe payout mode. A client can pay an invoice successfully, and the invoice can show as paid, while the money remains in Stripe because manual payouts are enabled.

For automatic Money Pro reconciliation, the payout still needs to land in a bank account connected to Money Pro through Plaid. Money Pro can link Stripe payouts to invoices and create fee transactions when it can see the payout deposit in the bank feed.

Step 1 — Check Whether Stripe Is in Manual Payout Mode

  1. Log in at stripe.com.
  2. Go to Balance or Payouts.
  3. Check whether available funds are sitting in Stripe without scheduled payouts.
  4. Open Settings → Bank accounts and scheduling or Stripe payout settings.
  5. Review the payout schedule.

If Stripe is set to manual payouts, available funds will not transfer automatically. You can either initiate a manual payout now or switch back to automatic payouts.

Step 2 — Choose an Automatic Payout Schedule

In Stripe payout settings, select an automatic schedule:

  • Daily — sends available funds every business day
  • Weekly — sends available funds on selected weekday(s)
  • Monthly — sends available funds on selected day(s) of the month

Save the schedule. Future available funds should follow the automatic schedule you selected. Funds that are pending still need to clear before they can be paid out.

Step 3 — Send Any Available Manual Balance if Needed

If you have available balance sitting in Stripe, switching to automatic payouts may not instantly send all funds. Check Stripe's Balance or Payouts page after saving the new schedule.

If you need the available balance sent sooner, use the available payout option in Stripe. If eligible, you may also see an Instant Payout option. Instant Payouts usually arrive faster but Stripe charges an extra fee and only available balance is eligible.

Step 4 — Confirm the Payout Bank Account Is Connected in Money Pro

Automatic payouts help Stripe send funds to your bank, but Money Pro reconciliation depends on the bank feed. Confirm the receiving bank account is connected through Plaid in Money Pro:

  1. Go to Finance → Money Pro.
  2. Open Banking, Connected Accounts, or Banks & Integrations.
  3. Confirm the Stripe payout bank account is connected and syncing.
  4. Reconnect the account if Money Pro shows a connection issue.

Without that Plaid connection, Money Pro may not automatically link Stripe payout deposits to invoices or create fee transactions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did Stripe stop depositing money automatically?

Your Stripe account may be set to manual payouts, available funds may still be pending, payout settings may be blocked by verification, or a previous payout may have failed. Check Stripe's Payout settings, Balance, and any action-required messages.

Will switching to automatic payouts send money immediately?

Not always. Automatic payouts apply to available balance according to the schedule you select. Pending funds must clear first. If available funds are sitting in Stripe, check whether Stripe lets you initiate a payout manually or use Instant Payout.

Which automatic payout schedule should I choose?

Choose daily if you want the fastest routine automatic transfers. Choose weekly or monthly if you prefer fewer bank deposits for bookkeeping. The schedule does not change card settlement time, ACH clearing time, verification holds, or first-payment holds.

Does Money Pro need any changes after I turn automatic payouts back on?

Usually no, but confirm the payout bank account is connected to Money Pro through Plaid. Money Pro needs the bank deposit feed to automatically match Stripe payouts to invoices and create fee transactions.

Can manual payouts break Money Pro reconciliation?

Manual payouts can make reconciliation harder because you control timing and amount. Money Pro still needs the payout deposit to arrive in a connected bank account before it can match the Stripe payout to invoices and fees.
