How to Check Why a Stripe Payout Is Delayed or Missing
If a Money Pro invoice was paid but you have not received the Stripe payout, check Stripe first: open Balance, Payments, and Payouts to see whether the funds are pending, scheduled, paid out, failed, or blocked by verification. Then confirm the payout bank account is connected to Money Pro through Plaid so the deposit can sync and reconcile.
Step 1 — Confirm the Invoice Payment Reached Stripe
Log in to stripe.com with the Stripe account connected to Money Pro. Open Payments and search for the customer's payment, amount, date, or invoice-related details.
If the payment does not appear in Stripe, the client may not have completed the payment, may have paid a different way, or the invoice may be connected to a different Stripe account. Also check Money Pro's invoice status. An invoice may be marked paid in Money Pro before the payout reaches your bank, because payout timing is separate from invoice payment status.
If the payment appears in Stripe, continue to the balance and payout checks below.
Step 2 — Check Pending Balance vs. Available Balance
In Stripe, open Balance. Stripe separates funds into pending and available balance:
- Pending balance means Stripe has received the payment, but the funds are not ready to pay out yet.
- Available balance means the funds can be included in a payout.
Card payments and ACH bank transfers do not become available instantly. ACH payments often take about 2 business days to clear into Stripe. Card payments commonly take 1–2 business days. The first payment on a new Stripe account is commonly held for 7 business days before payout.
Changing your payout schedule does not make pending funds become available faster. It only controls when available funds are sent to your bank.
Step 3 — Check the Payout Status and Arrival Date
Open Payouts in Stripe and find the payout that includes the payment. Stripe shows whether a payout is scheduled, in transit, paid, canceled, or failed.
If the payout is scheduled, check the expected arrival date. Payouts scheduled on weekends or bank holidays usually arrive on the next business day. If the payout is paid but your bank has not posted it, contact your bank and provide the Stripe payout details.
If the payout failed, update your bank details or resolve the failure reason in Stripe. Stripe may retry the payout at the next scheduled payout interval after the issue is fixed.
Step 4 — Check for Stripe Verification Requirements
Stripe can delay or pause payouts if your account needs updated information. In Stripe, look for banners such as Action required, Payouts paused, or Information needed.
Common requirements include:
- Identity verification for an owner or representative
- Business address, phone number, or website
- EIN or tax ID information
- Bank account details
- Business documents or proof of ownership
Complete all required Stripe steps. Money Pro support cannot bypass Stripe verification requirements.
Step 5 — Confirm the Payout Bank Account Is Connected to Money Pro
If Stripe shows the payout was sent successfully, but Money Pro does not show the deposit or fee transaction, confirm the receiving bank account is connected to Money Pro through Plaid.
Money Pro can automatically link Stripe payouts to invoices and create merchant fee transactions because of its Stripe connection, but that automation depends on Money Pro seeing the payout deposit through the connected bank account. If the account receiving Stripe payouts is not connected through Plaid, the funds may reach your bank while Money Pro cannot reconcile the deposit automatically.
Troubleshooting by Status
Stripe shows the payment as pending
Wait for the payment to become available. ACH payments and first payments take longer than many customers expect. The payout cannot be sent while the funds are still pending.
Stripe shows the payout as paid, but my bank does not show it
Check the expected arrival date and bank account details in Stripe. If the date has passed and the bank details are correct, contact your bank. If the payout later fails, Stripe should show the failure reason in the Dashboard.
Stripe shows no payout for the payment
The payment may still be pending, the account may be set to manual payouts, or payout settings may be blocked by verification. Check Balance, Payout settings, and any Stripe action-required banners.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my Money Pro invoice marked paid if I have not received the money?
Invoice payment status and bank payout timing are different. The invoice can be marked paid when the client successfully pays through Stripe. The payout to your bank happens afterward, based on settlement timing, payout schedule, first-payment holds, verification status, and bank processing.
Where should I check first for a missing Stripe payout?
Check Stripe first. Open Payments to confirm the payment exists, Balance to see pending versus available funds, and Payouts to see the payout status and expected arrival date. Then check whether the receiving bank account is connected to Money Pro through Plaid.
Why does Money Pro not show the Stripe payout deposit?
Money Pro only sees bank deposits from connected bank accounts. If the bank account receiving Stripe payouts is not connected through Plaid, or the connection needs to be refreshed, Money Pro may not show the deposit or automatically match it to invoices.
Does the first Stripe payout take longer?
Yes. The first payment processed through a new Stripe account is commonly held for 7 business days before payout. After the first payout clears, later payouts usually follow the account's normal payout schedule unless Stripe requests more information.
Who handles a missing payout: ZenBusiness, Stripe, or my bank?
Stripe shows payment and payout status. Your bank confirms whether a paid payout posted. ZenBusiness can help with Money Pro invoice status, bank connection issues, and whether the Stripe payout deposit is syncing into Money Pro for reconciliation.
