Set Up Website Builder Payments, Taxes, Shipping, and Pickup

To prepare checkout, complete your store business information, connect a payment provider, configure manual or automated taxes, create shipping zones and rates, add pickup if needed, and place test orders. Use addresses inside and outside your service area to confirm every eligible customer receives a valid checkout option.

Complete Your Store Business Information First

Open Website Builder in the Advanced editor, then go to Store → Business Settings. Confirm:

  • Business name and address
  • Country and regional settings
  • Store currency
  • Contact information
  • Order-notification recipients
  • The address used for shipping and tax calculations

Payment providers, Avalara, and Easyship can use this information. Incorrect country, currency, or business-address settings can prevent an option from appearing or cause a connected service to reject the account.

Decide these policies before configuring checkout:

  • Where you will sell and ship
  • Whether customers can pick up orders
  • When free shipping applies
  • How quickly each shipping method should arrive
  • Which products require special tax treatment
  • Whether displayed prices include or exclude tax
  • How returns, refunds, and cancellations work

Connect an Online Payment Provider

Go to Store → Business Settings → Payments. The providers shown there are the source of truth for your store, country, currency, and plan.

Connect Stripe

  1. Publish the website so the store has a reachable live URL.
  2. Go to Store → Business Settings → Payments.
  3. Click Connect Account next to Stripe.
  4. Log in to an existing Stripe account or complete Stripe’s account setup.
  5. Finish Stripe’s identity, business, and bank-account verification.
  6. Return to the Payments screen and confirm a green Connected badge appears.

If Stripe reports that the website is unreachable, confirm the site is published and enter the exact live address, including www. when the live site uses it. Stripe—not ZenBusiness—controls verification, transaction fees, account holds, disputes, and payout timing.

Connect PayPal or Square

For PayPal, go to Store → Business Settings → Payments and choose the available PayPal method. Duda's current Native Store options can include PayPal Express Checkout and PayPal Advanced Credit Card Payments + Express Checkout. These names are current Native Store terminology, not proof that the site uses the older third-party store. Click Connect Account, complete PayPal's authorization prompts, and confirm the green Connected badge appears.

If Square appears on the Payments screen, click Connect Account and complete its authorization prompts. When a Square account contains multiple business locations, review the selected location after connecting. A payment connection does not guarantee that Website Builder inventory synchronizes with a physical point-of-sale catalog.

Add a manual or offline payment method

Manual payments can support bank transfers, checks, pay-in-store instructions, cash on delivery, or another process completed outside online card processing.

  1. Go to Store → Business Settings → Payments.
  2. Find Accepting payments offline?.
  3. Click + Add Manual Payment.
  4. Enter the payment method name and customer instructions.
  5. Click Add Payment Method.

The name and instructions appear during checkout and in the order confirmation. Create clear instructions explaining when payment is due and when the order will be fulfilled. Never ask customers to send complete credit-card numbers through email or an unsecured form.

Configure Manual Taxes

Website Builder can calculate taxes only from the rules you configure. It does not decide where your business has a legal obligation to collect tax.

To create a manual tax zone:

  1. Go to Store → Business Settings → Taxes.
  2. Click + Add tax zone.
  3. Select the country and region.
  4. Enter the tax name shown on the invoice.
  5. Enter the tax number when applicable.
  6. Enter the tax rate.
  7. Click Save.

Create only the zones and rates your business is responsible for collecting. Product taxability, sales-tax nexus, registrations, exemptions, and filing requirements differ by location and product. Consult a qualified tax professional when you are unsure.

Include tax in displayed product prices

With manual taxes, you can configure prices to include tax. Under Taxes → Tax Settings, select Include Tax in Product Price, then choose:

  • Enter gross product price: The catalog price already includes tax. This option is designed for a store with one tax zone.
  • Enter net product price: The catalog contains the base price, and the store calculates the displayed tax-inclusive total using the default tax zone.

This setting applies to the whole store, not an individual shipping zone. If you later enable Avalara, taxes are added at checkout instead.

Set tax on shipping charges

Some regions tax shipping differently. Open the relevant manual tax zone, find Shipping tax override, enable it, and enter the appropriate rate. Enter 0% only when shipping is exempt under the rules that apply to the business.

Automate Taxes with Avalara

Automated taxes through Avalara are available on supported plans and currently support the United States and Canada. Availability in your store may vary.

  1. Go to Store → Business Settings → Taxes.
  2. Select Get started under automated taxes.
  3. Create or log in to an Avalara account.
  4. Complete Avalara’s business and tax-region setup.
  5. Return to the store and confirm the configured regions appear.

After connection, tax-region changes are managed in Avalara. Orders and refunds can synchronize with Avalara, and saved changes can apply without republishing the website.

Before switching from Avalara back to manual taxes, understand that future purchases and refunds will stop syncing, automated regions will no longer be available in the store, and manual zones must be configured again.

Create Shipping Zones and Rates

A shipping zone defines where a method is offered. Go to Store → Business Settings → Shipping & Pickup, then:

  1. Click + Add Shipping Zone.
  2. Enter the customer-facing zone or method name.
  3. Select the country and region.
  4. Optionally limit the zone to ZIP or postal codes.
  5. Click + Add a Shipping Method.
  6. Add the method name and estimated delivery range.
  7. Select the rate type.
  8. Enter the rate rules and save the zone.

Available manual rate types include:

  • Free shipping: No shipping charge for eligible orders
  • Flat rate: One amount regardless of cart weight or price
  • By order price: Different rates based on cart subtotal
  • Rate by weight: Different rates based on total shippable weight

Example: $5 shipping below $50 and free shipping at $50

Create one zone for the locations you serve. Add two order-price rules:

Order value Shipping charge
$0.00–$49.99 $5.00
$50.00 and above $0.00

Use non-overlapping ranges so only one rate applies. Test carts immediately below, exactly at, and above the threshold.

Example: shipping by weight

If you charge $6 for packages up to 2 lb and $10 for packages from 2.01–5 lb, every shippable product must have an accurate weight. The checkout uses the combined cart weight. If the total falls outside all configured ranges, the customer may have no shipping option and cannot complete the purchase.

Use Easyship for Automated Rates and Labels

Easyship can provide live rates, shipping labels, tracking, courier connections, and fulfillment tools in supported locations. Duda makes automated Easyship shipping available on its Advanced store plan and higher; confirm that Enable Automated Shipping appears in your store before planning around it.

  1. Complete the store’s business information.
  2. Go to Store → Business Settings → Shipping & Pickup.
  3. Select Enable Automated Shipping.
  4. Confirm the account email and connect or create the Easyship account.
  5. Select couriers or use the available defaults.
  6. Configure shipping zones.
  7. Add package measurements to each physical product or define saved boxes in Easyship.
  8. Add a payment method and carrier settings in Easyship.
  9. Place a test order and confirm it appears in Easyship.

For accurate rates, enter package weight, width, length, and height under each product’s package settings. Live-rate availability depends on the origin country, destination, connected courier, product measurements, and Easyship configuration.

Add In-Store Pickup

Pickup gives local customers a free delivery option at checkout.

  1. Go to Store → Business Settings → Shipping & Pickup.
  2. Click + Add Pickup Location.
  3. Enter the location name and address.
  4. Add pickup instructions, hours, or identification requirements.
  5. Click Save.

You can add multiple pickup locations, but a customer selects one at checkout. Pickup itself cannot include a fee. After the order is prepared, open it under Store → Sales → Orders and mark it Ready for Pickup. After collection, mark it Picked Up.

Test the Complete Checkout

Run tests before announcing the store:

  1. Confirm at least one payment method is connected.
  2. Create or select a low-price test product.
  3. Test a shippable and non-shippable product.
  4. Use addresses inside each shipping zone.
  5. Use an address outside all zones.
  6. Test free-shipping thresholds and weight boundaries.
  7. Confirm tax appears only where expected.
  8. Test pickup when enabled.
  9. Complete payment in provider test mode or with a controlled low-price order.
  10. Confirm the order appears in Store → Sales → Orders.
  11. Confirm merchant and customer emails arrive.
  12. Refund or cancel the test and verify inventory is restocked when selected.

Do not test only from the editor preview. Complete at least one test from the published storefront so the live domain, checkout, payment provider, notifications, and order record are all exercised together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my payment provider not appear at checkout?

Confirm the provider shows a green Connected badge, supports the store’s country and currency, and has completed its verification requirements. Then test an eligible product and address. Some payment methods depend on location, currency, order value, product type, or provider settings and will not appear for every order.

Does ZenBusiness receive or hold my store payments?

No. ZenBusiness provides the storefront and checkout connection, while the selected provider processes the transaction and sends payouts to the bank account configured with that provider. Use the provider account for verification, fees, reserves, disputes, refunds, payout status, and changes to banking information.

Why does checkout say no shipping options are available?

The destination may be outside your shipping zones, the order may fall outside every price or weight range, or a product may be missing required package details. Confirm the customer’s country, region, and postal code; product weights; cart total; and the start and end values for each shipping rule.

Should I use manual taxes or Avalara?

Manual zones can fit a store with a limited number of known rates that the owner will maintain. Avalara can automate supported calculations and synchronize transactions on eligible plans. Neither option decides where you must register or collect. Review your obligations with a qualified tax professional before configuring either method.

Can I charge for in-store pickup?

No. The built-in pickup option is free. Add each pickup location with clear instructions, then mark orders Ready for Pickup and Picked Up as they progress. If the business requires a handling fee, confirm whether it should be included in product pricing or handled through another supported checkout rule.

Why is an Easyship rate different from what I expected?

Live rates depend on origin, destination, courier, service level, package weight, dimensions, and saved-box settings. Confirm each product’s measurements and the Easyship account’s shipping origin and boxes. Test the same cart and address again after correcting data, then compare the selected courier service directly in Easyship.
