Troubleshoot Website Builder Products, Inventory, and Add to Cart

If a product, variant, gallery, or Add to Cart button is not working, first confirm eCommerce is active, the product is Active, the selected variant has inventory, required store widgets are present, and the site was republished. Then test the live storefront in a private browser window.

Start with This Five-Minute Check

  1. Open Store → Catalog → Product Catalog.
  2. Open the affected product.
  3. Confirm its status is Active.
  4. Confirm the product and selected variant are in stock.
  5. Confirm the product has a valid price.
  6. Confirm all required options and variants are enabled.
  7. Open the Product page and check for Product Options and Buy Button widgets.
  8. Confirm the site includes a Shopping Cart widget.
  9. Republish the site.
  10. Test the live URL in a private or incognito window.

If the issue remains, use the symptom-specific sections below. Record one affected product name, SKU, page URL, browser, device, and screenshot before changing multiple settings. That makes it easier to identify which change fixed the problem.

Product Does Not Appear in the Store

Check the product’s status and the gallery filters.

Confirm product status

Open Store → Catalog → Product Catalog, select the item, and check its status:

  • Active: Visible to shoppers
  • Inactive: Available for preview but hidden from the live store
  • Draft: Saved in the catalog but hidden from shoppers

Set the product to Active, save it, and republish the site.

Confirm the Product Gallery settings

Open the page containing the Product Gallery widget and review its Content settings. Confirm it displays:

  • All products, or the intended category
  • Products rather than subcategories, when appropriate
  • Products on sale, products not on sale, or out-of-stock products as intended

At least one product filter must be selected. If no products match the chosen category and filters, the gallery appears empty. On a dynamic Category page, confirm Show different content per category is selected when each category page should display its own products.

Confirm category assignment

Open the product and verify it belongs to the category shown by the gallery. A product can be active but absent from a category-specific gallery when it was imported without the expected category or assigned to a similarly named category.

Add to Cart or Buy Button Is Missing

The product page should include the widgets needed for the product type. For a standard product, confirm the Product Price and Buy Button widgets are present. For a product with choices, confirm the Product Options widget is also present. For subscriptions, the page may also require the Price Options widget.

If a required widget is missing:

  1. Open the Product page in the Advanced editor.
  2. Select Add → Widgets. This is the Classic Editor path; Duda Editor 2.0 documentation may call the same panel Elements.
  3. Search for the Store widgets.
  4. Add the missing Product Options, Product Price, or Buy Button widget. When options are first added to a product, Duda normally adds the Product Options widget automatically.
  5. Preview the page with the affected product.
  6. Republish and test the live page.

Add-to-cart links on regular pages

A button, image, gallery, icon, slider, or list on a non-store page can link directly to Add product to cart only when the linked product:

  • Is Active
  • Has available inventory
  • Has no options or variations
  • Is not a subscription product

If the item has size, color, or another option, link the promotion to the product page instead. The customer must choose a variant before adding it to the cart.

Product Options or Variants Do Not Work

Options such as size and color generate sellable variants. A customer cannot buy a variant that is disabled, missing inventory, or not represented by the required Product Options widget.

  1. Open the product in Product Catalog.
  2. Review every product option and value.
  3. Open Manage Variants.
  4. Confirm the intended variants are toggled on.
  5. Confirm each has an SKU and inventory quantity when tracking is enabled.
  6. Confirm variant images and price adjustments are correct.
  7. Save, preview, and republish.

Add all product options before editing variants. Adding another option later can regenerate combinations and overwrite prior variant-level SKU, inventory, image, or price changes.

The current ZenBusiness Native Store configuration supports up to 100 products in the catalog and 8 variants per product. Duda allows reusable option names and values beyond eight, but only eight sellable combinations can be created for one product in this configuration. If a product exceeds that limit, split it into separate listings or reduce the combinations.

Inventory Is Wrong or the Product Shows Out of Stock

Open the product’s Inventory section.

  • Turn Track Inventory on to maintain numeric stock.
  • For products with options, update inventory under Manage Variants.
  • Confirm each sellable combination has a quantity greater than zero.
  • Confirm the intended variants are enabled.
  • Save changes and republish if the storefront does not refresh.

Inventory decreases when an order is placed. When canceling an order, select the option to restock inventory when appropriate. Refunds, cancellations, and fulfillment status are separate actions; confirm inventory changed after each test.

If you sell through another system, matching SKUs do not guarantee automatic synchronization. Compare Website Builder stock with the point-of-sale, warehouse, supplier, or marketplace system and correct the source that owns the inventory count.

Shopping Cart Does Not Open or Checkout Cannot Start

The Product Gallery is normally added when the store is created, but the Shopping Cart widget may need to be added manually.

  1. Open the site editor.
  2. Select Add → Widgets.
  3. Search for the Store widgets.
  4. Add the Shopping Cart widget to the header or another location available throughout the store.
  5. Preview the site and add a product.
  6. Open the cart and continue to checkout.
  7. Republish and test the live site.

If the cart opens but checkout cannot continue, confirm at least one payment method is connected and the order has a valid shipping or pickup method. Test with a simple in-stock product and an address inside a configured shipping zone.

CSV Import Fails or Creates Duplicates

Go to Store → Catalog → Product Catalog → Import and download a new template. Compare the failed file with its exact headers.

Error Likely cause Fix
File cannot be selected File is not saved as .csv Download or save it as CSV
Unsupported header Header is misspelled or not supported Copy data into a fresh template
Missing mandatory field Product lacks title or price Add the missing required value
Wrong detected count Blank rows, options, variants, or the 100-product plan limit affected the count Review rows, option combinations, and current catalog size
Duplicate products url-handle changed during an update Export current catalog and preserve handles
Image missing Image URL is inaccessible Use a public HTTPS image URL
SKU changed Spreadsheet reformatted the value Set the SKU column to plain text
Some rows skipped Row-level validation failed Download and correct the CSV Error Report

For bulk updates, always start with a fresh catalog export and select Update existing products. Keep an untouched backup before uploading changes.

Shipping Option Is Missing

A shipping method appears only when the order matches its zone and rules.

Check:

  • Destination country and region
  • ZIP or postal-code restrictions
  • Cart price range
  • Combined cart weight
  • Product shipping toggle
  • Product package weight and dimensions
  • Easyship origin, courier, and saved-box settings

Make sure the ranges cover every intended order without gaps. For example, a rule ending at $49.99 and the next starting at $50.01 leaves a $50.00 order without that method. Test the exact boundaries after saving changes.

Payment Option Is Missing or Fails

Go to Store → Business Settings → Payments and confirm the provider displays a green Connected badge. Then check:

  • Provider account verification is complete
  • Store country and currency are supported
  • Live site URL is published and reachable
  • Product type is supported by the provider
  • Order amount meets provider minimums
  • Shopper country and currency are eligible
  • The provider account has no restriction or hold

ZenBusiness can help confirm the storefront connection, but the processor controls account approval, declined transactions, identity verification, disputes, holds, and payouts.

Changes Appear in the Editor but Not on the Live Store

Saving in the editor does not always publish the change. Click Publish or Republish, then:

  1. Open the exact live product URL.
  2. Test in a private or incognito window.
  3. Hard-refresh the page.
  4. Confirm you are viewing the custom domain rather than an old preview URL.
  5. Verify the product status remains Active.

If only one category or product is affected, recheck its gallery filters, category assignment, variant availability, and connected widgets instead of repeatedly republishing the entire site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my product show See Options instead of Add to Cart?

The product has choices that must be selected before purchase. Send the shopper to the product page and confirm the Product Options and Buy Button widgets are present. A direct Add Product to Cart link on another page works only for an active, in-stock product without options, variants, or subscriptions.

Why is my product gallery empty?

Open the Product Gallery widget’s Content settings. Confirm it points to the intended catalog or category and that at least one sale, non-sale, or out-of-stock filter is selected. Then confirm matching products are Active and assigned to that category. Save, republish, and test the live page.

Why did adding a color option erase my variant SKUs?

Adding or changing options can regenerate the full set of variants and overwrite variant-level edits. Finalize all option names and values first, then open Manage Variants and enter the SKU, inventory, image, availability, and price adjustment for every combination. Export a catalog backup before large option changes.

Why is an in-stock product unavailable?

If the product has variants, the main product status is not enough. Open Manage Variants and confirm the selected combination is enabled and has inventory. Also verify the Product Options widget is present, the product is Active, its price is valid, and the live site was republished after the correction.

Why can a customer add a product but not check out?

Checkout needs an eligible payment method and, for physical products, a shipping or pickup option that matches the address and cart. Test with a supported address inside a configured zone. Check payment-provider connection, product shipping settings, package data, price or weight ranges, and store country and currency.

What should I send support for a store problem?

Send the product name, SKU, live URL, browser and device, screenshots, exact reproduction steps, and expected versus actual behavior. For imports, include the CSV Error Report. For checkout, include cart contents and destination without payment-card data. Never send passwords, API keys, or authentication codes.
