Is It Safe to Link My Bank Account to Money Pro?
Yes — Money Pro uses Plaid, a bank-level secure connection service with 256-bit SSL encryption (the same standard used by major banks). ZenBusiness never stores your banking credentials. The connection is read-only: Plaid can see your transactions and balance but cannot move money, make payments, or access accounts you didn't authorize.
How Plaid Secures Your Connection
Plaid is a financial technology platform used by thousands of major financial apps (Venmo, Robinhood, Acorns, and many others). Here's how it keeps your data secure:
Credential handling: When you enter your bank username and password in the Plaid window, those credentials are passed directly to your bank — they're never stored by ZenBusiness. Plaid receives a secure access token (not your credentials) that grants limited, read-only access to your account data.
Encryption: All data transmitted between Plaid, your bank, and ZenBusiness uses 256-bit SSL encryption — the same standard used by major financial institutions.
Read-only access: The token ZenBusiness receives only allows reading transaction data and account balances. It cannot initiate transfers, make payments, or make changes to your account. Banks do not grant Plaid permission to move money.
What Plaid accesses:
- Transaction history (date, amount, merchant name, description)
- Current account balance
- Account type and name
What Plaid cannot access:
- Your full bank account number (Plaid receives a masked version only)
- Other accounts at your bank that you didn't authorize
- Anything beyond what you selected during the connection process
If You Want to Disconnect
You can disconnect your bank from Money Pro at any time:
1. Go to Expenses or Income → gear icon → Banks & Integrations
2. Toggle off the accounts you want to disconnect
3. Confirm the disconnection
Disconnecting stops future transaction syncing. All previously imported transactions remain in Money Pro. The connection token at your bank can also be revoked directly from your bank's account settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can ZenBusiness see my bank password?
No. Your password is entered in Plaid's secure window and goes directly to your bank. ZenBusiness receives only a secure access token — not your login credentials. Your password is never visible to ZenBusiness employees.
Can Money Pro accidentally move money from my account?
No. The connection is strictly read-only. The access token that Plaid provides to ZenBusiness only allows reading transaction data and balances. Banks do not grant third-party apps the ability to initiate transactions through Plaid's read-only connection.
What happens to my data if I cancel Money Pro?
Your linked bank credentials are removed immediately when you cancel for security. Your imported transaction history remains accessible for 90 days after your billing period ends, then is archived. See What Happens After Canceling Money Pro.
I got an email from my bank saying a new app connected. Should I be worried?
This is your bank notifying you that Plaid connected — it's expected and normal. If you see this email after linking your bank to Money Pro, it's confirming that the connection you authorized was established successfully.
