What to Do After Buying Your ZenBusiness Domain
After purchasing a ZenBusiness domain, your domain registers within 1–4 hours and you'll receive a verification email. The three things to do next: verify your domain (click the email link), decide how to use it (website, email, or both), and connect your services. Domains that aren't connected to a website or email account within the first few weeks often sit unused — here's how to activate yours.
Step 1 — Verify Your Domain
ZenBusiness sends a verification email to your account email address as soon as your domain is registered. Click the link in that email to verify domain ownership.
If you don't see the verification email:
- Check your spam or junk folder
- Search your inbox for "domain" or "ZenBusiness verification"
- If more than 24 hours have passed, contact our support team to resend it
Your domain works even without verification, but verifying prevents future issues with domain control and renewal.
Step 2 — Check Your Dashboard for Domain Status
- Log in at zenbusiness.com
- Go to Web Tools → Domains
- Your domain should show as Active or Processing
If your domain shows as "Declined": This doesn't mean it was rejected. It means you purchased a bundle (like the Online Tools Bundle) but haven't selected your domain name yet. Look for a "Select your domain" prompt and complete the selection — your domain will register within 1–4 hours after you choose a name.
Step 3 — Decide How to Use Your Domain
Your domain is your web address. What you do next depends on what you purchased:
You bought the Online Tools Bundle ($149/year)
The bundle includes domain, domain privacy, business email, and website builder. All three services are ready to set up:
- Build your website — follow the steps below
- Set up business email — create your @yourdomain.com address
- Both are already included — no additional purchase needed
You bought a standalone domain ($25/year)
A standalone domain reserves your web address. To use it, you'll need to:
- Connect it to a website (ZenBusiness Website Builder purchased separately, or a third-party platform like WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace)
- Set up email separately (ZenBusiness Business Email, or a provider like Google Workspace)
You're using the ZenBusiness Website Builder (Premium plan or standalone)
Your domain was included with your plan. Build your site and publish it — connecting the domain to your site is handled automatically when you publish.
Build Your Website
- Log in at zenbusiness.com
- Go to Web Tools → Website
- Click "Create Website" or "Edit Site" if you started before
- Choose your editor: Simple (AI-guided, quick) or Advanced (full control, 100+ templates)
- Customize your site content, images, and branding
- Click Publish — your domain connects automatically
Note: Clicking Publish pushes your site live. Changes you make in the editor are not visible online until you click Publish again.
First-time domain connection: After publishing, your site appears at your custom domain within 24–48 hours as DNS propagates. You'll see a ZenBusiness subdomain (like yourbusiness.multiscreensite.com) in the meantime — this is normal.
See ZenBusiness Website Builder Guide for the full editor walkthrough.
Set Up Business Email
Business email requires ZenBusiness Business Email (included in the Online Tools Bundle or purchased separately).
- Go to Web Tools → Email in your dashboard
- Create your email address (e.g., info@yourbusiness.com or yourname@yourbusiness.com)
- Set a password and save
- Log in at mail.zenbusiness.com to confirm your inbox works
- Set up password recovery right away (Settings → Password Recovery)
Set up email on your phone and computer: See ZenBusiness Email Setup Overview for step-by-step instructions for iPhone, Android, Gmail, and Outlook.
Domain requirement: ZenBusiness Business Email only works with domains registered through ZenBusiness. If your domain is at GoDaddy, Namecheap, or another registrar, use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for email instead.
Connect Your Domain to a Third-Party Website
If you're using WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or another website builder:
- Get the DNS records (A record and CNAME) from your website host
- Log in at zenbusiness.com → Web Tools → Domains → DNS Management
- Add the DNS records from your website host
- Wait 24–48 hours for DNS changes to propagate
See ZenBusiness Domain Guide for details on updating DNS records.
Frequently Asked Questions
I bought my domain 3 days ago and haven't done anything with it. Is it okay?
Yes — your domain is registered and held securely under your account. There's no deadline to set up a website or email. When you're ready, follow the steps above to connect your services.
My domain shows as "Declined" even though I paid. What do I do?
"Declined" means you haven't selected a domain name yet — it's waiting for you to choose. Go to Web Tools → Domains in your dashboard, look for the domain selection prompt, pick your domain name, and registration will complete within 1–4 hours.
How long before my website is visible at my custom domain?
After publishing your ZenBusiness site and connecting your domain, expect 24–48 hours for the domain to show your website. DNS changes take time to propagate across the internet. During that period, visit your site using the ZenBusiness subdomain (from Web Tools → Website).
I purchased just the domain — how do I get email?
A standalone domain doesn't include email. You can add ZenBusiness Business Email from Web Tools → Email in your dashboard (included in the Online Tools Bundle or available as an add-on). Alternatively, use a third-party service like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 — see DNS and Email Setup for configuration steps.
Do I need to set up DNS records manually?
Only if you're connecting to a third-party service (website host, Google Workspace, etc.). For ZenBusiness Website Builder and ZenBusiness Business Email, DNS is configured automatically when you connect those services. You only need to manually edit DNS records when integrating with outside providers.
