ZenBusiness Banking Overview & Setup

ZenBusiness Banking Overview & Setup

ZenBusiness Banking is a business checking solution available to eligible ZenBusiness customers who formed an LLC or S-Corp with ZenBusiness. You apply through your ZenBusiness dashboard, not directly through Thread Bank. Most applications are reviewed instantly or within up to 3 business days, although some may require additional identity or business documents.

Overview

ZenBusiness Banking is designed to help business owners keep personal and business finances separate while managing payments, deposits, transfers, and debit card activity from one dashboard. The account is accessed through your ZenBusiness login, and banking services are provided by Thread Bank, Member FDIC.

This article covers who can apply, what documents you may need, common reasons applications are denied, what fees apply, and how to access your account after approval. If you are already approved and need help moving money, see Depositing Money, Sending Money, and Linking External Accounts.

Who Can Apply

ZenBusiness Banking is currently available to ZenBusiness customers who formed their LLC or S-Corp with ZenBusiness. To apply, you should be prepared to confirm both your business details and personal identity information.

Basic application requirements

You should be able to provide:

  • A U.S. business location
  • A valid physical U.S. mailing address
  • A valid EIN
  • A U.S. mobile number for authentication
  • An SSN, ITIN, or passport

ZenBusiness also states that Banking is available to non-U.S. citizens if they formed a business with ZenBusiness, but mobile OTP authentication currently requires a U.S. mobile number.

Business types that are not supported

ZenBusiness Banking is not available for some business types, including:

  • Cryptocurrency-related businesses
  • Privately owned ATMs
  • Marijuana or cannabis businesses
  • Gambling or wagering businesses
  • Crowdfunding businesses
  • Adult entertainment-related businesses
  • Other money services businesses

If your business falls into one of those categories, the application may be denied even if the rest of your information is complete.

How to Apply

Applying for ZenBusiness Banking typically takes about 5 minutes when you have the required information ready.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to your ZenBusiness account.
  2. Open the left navigation and go to Banking.
  3. Click Overview.
  4. Select Apply now from the Banking banner.
  5. Confirm your business details.
  6. Enter your personal identity details.
  7. Submit the application.

Most business information is already available because the account is tied to your ZenBusiness formation. In many cases, you only need to confirm details and add missing identity information.

Documents You May Need

Many applications are approved without uploading extra documents, but ZenBusiness may request additional items after the initial review.

Commonly requested personal information

  • SSN or ITIN
  • Passport number and country of issuance if you do not have an SSN or ITIN
  • A passport image if requested after review

Business or identity documents that may be requested

  • Certified Articles of Incorporation
  • Signed Operating Agreement
  • Assumed, trade, or fictitious name certificate
  • Certified Partnership Agreement
  • Certified Articles of Organization
  • Government-issued ID such as a passport or driver's license

Uploads can be completed securely in the Banking dashboard. Supported file types include PDF, JPEG, and PNG, up to 20 MB.

Proof of address

ZenBusiness may also request proof of address to satisfy identity verification requirements under banking regulations. Accepted examples include:

  • Full lease agreements
  • Utility bills dated within the last 30 days
  • Bank statements dated within the last 30 days
  • A current pay stub

Application Review Times and Denials

Many approved applications are reviewed instantly, but some take up to 3 business days after submission or after any requested documents are received.

Why an application may take longer

Review time can increase when:

  • Your business formation is still pending
  • Additional identity verification is needed
  • Additional business documents are requested
  • Manual review is required by ZenBusiness or its banking partners

Common reasons applications are denied

ZenBusiness cannot always provide the specific denial reason. Common causes include:

  • The business is outside the supported business categories
  • Identity could not be verified
  • Country of residence information does not meet requirements

ZenBusiness also states that your credit report is not used during the application review process, and a denial does not affect your personal credit score.

Fees and Key Account Costs

ZenBusiness Banking includes a recurring monthly fee and some transaction-specific fees.

  • $5/month subscription fee
  • $5 per ACH return occurrence
  • $5 to receive an incoming domestic wire transfer
  • $15 to send a domestic wire transfer
  • No additional ATM fee from ZenBusiness - ATM operators may charge their own fees

How to Access Your Account

You access a ZenBusiness Banking account through ZenBusiness, not through a separate Thread Bank login.

What that means in practice

  • You use your ZenBusiness credentials to access Banking features.
  • Accounts opened through the ZenBusiness platform are not directly accessed through Thread Bank.
  • If you prefer to bank through a separate Thread Bank portal, that is not supported for accounts opened through ZenBusiness.

Once approved, you can sign in through your ZenBusiness dashboard and use the Banking section for account activity, transfers, deposits, and debit card management.

Media to Preserve During Publish

  • Preserve images from source page 203 near the application steps section.
  • Keep any screenshots tied to the application entry point, application banner, and account setup flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for ZenBusiness Banking?

Log in to your ZenBusiness dashboard, go to Banking → Overview, and click Apply now on the banner. The application takes about 5 minutes. Your formation data pre-fills most fields — you mainly confirm your details and add your SSN, ITIN, or passport number.

Is there a minimum deposit to open a ZenBusiness Banking account?

No minimum deposit is required to open the account. You do need funds available before you can make purchases or use the debit card for business spending.

Does ZenBusiness check my credit when I apply?

No. ZenBusiness does not use your credit report and applying does not affect your personal credit score.

My application has been pending for more than 3 business days — what should I do?

Check your email for a document request from ZenBusiness. Most delays are caused by a pending identity verification or a missing document upload. Log in to your Banking dashboard and look for any document upload prompts. If nothing is pending, contact support with your business name and application date.

Why was my application denied?

The most common reasons are: unsupported business type (crypto, cannabis, gambling, crowdfunding, adult entertainment, money services), identity verification failure, or country of residence not meeting requirements. ZenBusiness cannot always provide the specific reason. Your credit score is not used and the denial does not affect it.

I'm not a U.S. citizen — can I still apply?

Yes, if you formed your business with ZenBusiness. A U.S. mobile number is required for OTP-based authentication during the application. If you do not have an SSN or ITIN, you will need to provide a passport number and may be asked to upload a passport image.

How do I log in to my Thread Bank account?

You do not have a separate Thread Bank login. ZenBusiness Banking is accessed entirely through your ZenBusiness dashboard at dashboard.zenbusiness.com → Banking. Thread Bank does not provide direct portal access for accounts opened through ZenBusiness.

Can I make cash deposits into my ZenBusiness Banking account?

No. ZenBusiness Banking does not support direct cash deposits at an ATM or branch. To deposit cash, deposit it at a personal or traditional bank first, then link that account and transfer via ACH — same-day ACH is free.

How do I download my bank statements or transaction history?

Log in to your ZenBusiness dashboard, go to Banking, and click Statements or Transaction History. Select your date range and download as PDF. For statements from a closed account, contact MoneySupport@zenbusiness.com.

What if I lost my EIN number?

Retrieve your EIN from the IRS website: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/emplo...ication-number
